Catron County Medical Center invites the community to a free BBQ thanking Dr. Edwin Nebblett for 17 years of service. Dr. Nebblett will be retiring at the end of this year. Replacing Dr. Nebblett as Medical Director is Devonna Johnson, Certified Nurse Practitioner.

The BBQ starts at 4:30PM on September 1 at the Reserve Community Center. Complimentary hotdogs, hamburgers and assorted beverages will be served. Presentations are scheduled for 5:30PM.

Dr. Nebblett has been with Presbyterian Medical Services since 1999. His departure will be deeply felt by members of the community as well as CCMC staff who have served with Dr. Nebblett.

“I have always enjoyed helping people,” Dr. Nebblett says of his career. “I chose family medicine because it was the specialty that offered the most variety of care, and particularly, as I was interested in preventative medicine. I have had countless opportunities to be involved in educating the public, both in a one-on -one setting, and on a community-wide level. Above all, I love the teaching of health care principles that help people move from illness to wellness.”

Johnson received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Arizona in 1988. She was inspired toward a change of career thereafter, recalling a lifelong interest in health and human services. She earned an Associate’s in Applied Science in Nursing from Odessa College in 1994; a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2004; and in 2006, graduated with a Post Master’s Certificate in the Nurse Practitioner Program from the University of Arizona.

“As a sick child it was the nursing professional that time practice he will remain with PMS as a temp-on-call, beginning December 1. He hopes to continue with PMS and CCMC as a “support to the clinical branch, however that might be.”

This ‘best of both worlds scenario’ will give Dr. Nebblett “more time to play with the grandkids,” to travel and enjoy the company of his wife of 34 years, Maria.

Maintaining continuity of care, CCMC is bringing on Devonna Johnson, Certified Nurse Practitioner as the new Medical Director. Johnson is a native of Roswell who has been working with PMS at Socorro Community Health Center. She transfers to Catron County Medical Center November 1.
