Datil Egg-Drop

Catron Courier - - Front Page - by Ricky Chavez

On April 13, Datil Elementary held its annual Egg-Drop contest and Easter Egg hunt. The egg drop contest is an activity in which the students design some kind of space craft that would deliver their Egg Astronaut back safely to Earth from a designated drop zone. This year members from the Quemado District of Socorro Electric came with their Boom truck to drop the egg crafts from about a height of 50-60’. A big Thanks to Rick Williams and Lane Buguyong, for their assistance and support of our students. This year proved to be one of the best in designs I have seen in my 33 years of conducting this activity with our students.

After lunch, the students dyed and colored approximately 155 eggs for our school Easter Egg hunt. This was done with the help of Hop-WithCops, from the Catron County sheriff's Dept. A BIG THANKS to Ian Fletcher and Amanda Landrum for their assistance and support.
