Great Fun at Glenwood Gathering

Catron Courier - - Front Page - by Molly Byran

The Glenwood Dutch Oven Gathering held Saturday April 8 and was a great success. Five cooking teams made full meals in Dutch ovens over campfires and charcoal. Each camp fed 20 people. Our local chuck wagon cook, Grant Smith and his team, actually fed 63 folks a meal of pulled pork, beans, bread and peach cobbler. Others had menus of ribs, potatoes and bread pudding, chicken chili and the fixings, red chili stew and another team had beef roast and all the fixings. People really enjoyed the full meals. Eight vendors present sold crafts, all kinds of hats, jewelry and Dutch oven cast iron supplies, and a blacksmith brought stands and set ups for Dutch ovens.

We had a great turnout from as far away as Phoenix and El Paso, and even someone from Virginia. We appreciated all the generous supporters who helped to make this a great event and hope to have a bigger better event next year. Hope to see you there!
