Christmas tree per­mit sales and cut­ting on the ApacheSit­g­reaves Na­tional Forests be­gan on Oc­to­ber 10 and will end on De­cem­ber 24, 2017. You can pur­chase per­mits at the ApacheSit­g­reaves Na­tional Forests Su­per­vi­sors Of­fice and all five Ranger Dis­tricts, or pur­chase your per­mit through the mail

Per­mits are $15 for a tree up to 10 feet tall. For trees over 10 feet, you must contact the Ranger Dis­trict of­fice and make ar­range­ments. One Christmas tree per­mit is al­lowed per house­hold. Christmas Trees must be cut within des­ig­nated cut­ting ar­eas There are no re­funds on Christmas tree per­mits. To pur­chase a tree per­mit by mail, make your $15.00 check out to USDA For­est Ser­vice and send a self-ad­dressed stamped en­ve­lope to the ranger dis­trict where you plan to cut your tree. One tree per­mit re­quires 49 ¢ postage. You will re­ceive your per­mit, cut­ting in­struc­tions and a map of the cut­ting ar­eas. Dis­tricts are:

Christmas tree per­mits are avail­able within the Gila For­est from mid-Novem­ber un­til Christmas Eve. A per­mit is re­quired for each tree cut and re­moved from Na­tional For­est Sys­tem land. The pi­non tree per­mit is free; any other species are $5.00 per tree. Non­tra­di­tional hol­i­day sea­son trees (cen­tury plant, agave, and yucca stalks) may be ob­tained with a Dec­o­ra­tive Ma­te­rial per­mit.

Fire­wood per­mits for the Gila For­est are $10.00 per cord with a min­i­mum pur­chase of $20.00 or two cords. Fire­wood per­mits are avail­able year-round.
