Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument announced the fall schedule of programs to give visitors a different perspective of the dwellings.
Full Moon Hikes begins at night, taking visitors on a onehour tour of the cliff dwellings under moonlight. Wear sturdy shoes or boots, bring red-lens flashlights or headlamps, and reservations are required. Please call 575-536-9461. Standard park entrance fees apply. Full moon hike dates are September 22 and October 27.
For spectacular crosscanyon views of the cliff dwellings below, come for cliff hikes on September 8, October 13, November 10, or December 8. Wear sturdy hiking boots, bring water and a snack for the 3-4 hour program. This is a strenuous hike and may not be appropriate for young children and those unfamiliar with offtrail hiking.
At 9 PM on September 8, the Gila Visitor Center kicks off
a program to introduce night sky past cultures have shared, with telescope viewing afterwards. Bring layers as the temperature drops with the sun. Gila Nights dates are: September 8 and October 6.
