Returning as Dina has made Marla Adams feel like she’s hit the mother lode
Marla Adams swears there’s a softy under Dina’s tough- as-nails exterior!
Who says you can’t go home again? Not Marla Adams, who recently reprised her role of the fabulously wealthy and fantastically flawed Dina Mergeron on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. While the Abbott clan’s estranged matriarch has zipped back to Genoa City on and of f in the years since abandoning her children for the glamorous greener pastures of Europe, Dina’s current retur n appears to have a more permanent vibe. “I’m like a kid in a candy store… except I gave up candy!” laughs the soap vet. “I’m just thrilled to pieces to be back again. I have to pinch myself!”
In fact, the pinching began the moment Adams walked onto Y& R’s soundstage for the first time in nine years. “There was such an overpowering feeling of love and acceptance,” she sighs. “When I walked into the makeup room, [hair/makeup department head] Patti Denney took me in her arms and said, ‘ Welcome home, Marla.’ And then all the crew came by… It was like a big love-in. It really felt like a family reunion, because the Abbotts are finally coming back!”
