Fire, smoke damage 116-year-old house
— Using axes, hooks and chainsaws, volunteers from several fire companies worked Tuesday to find the source of the smoke that filled a 116-year-
old house on Bailiff Road.
The fire was reported at 1:40 p.m. Firefighters at first described seeing smoke but no flames coming from the home at 424 Bailiff Road. As interior walls and other materials fell from a second floor window, small licks of flame erupted, which a nearby firefighter quickly extinguished.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate. As of Tuesday night no details had been released.
