Elva I. Galyen, of Elk­ton, MD, passed away on Fri­day, March 25, 2016, at the age of 86, sur­rounded by her fam­ily. She was the daugh­ter of the late Joseph A. Galin­ski and Lula Terry Galin­skiSadler.

Mrs. Galyen was a home­maker, loved spend­ing time with her fam­ily and fam­ily gath­er­ings. She en­joyed sewing, can­ning, cook­ing, and loved to dance. Mrs. Galyen was a mem­ber of Amer­i­can Le­gion Ce­cil Post #15 Ladies Aux­il­iary, Elk­ton.

Sur­vivors in­clude her daugh­ters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Ge­orge Kel­ley, Mil­lie and Bob Emig, Dotti and Larry Schirling, Aneta and Duane Arentzen and Margi and Russ John­son, all of Elk­ton, MD; sis­ter, Neta Foley, Havre de Grace, MD; 10 grand­chil­dren; and 6 great-grand­chil­dren.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, Mrs. Galyen was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band of 67 years, Iradell C. “Arnold” Galyen; daugh­ter, Judy Galyen; and sis­ters, He­len Lib­er­a­tore and Mary Bab­cock.

Fu­neral ser­vice will be held 3:30 p.m., Fri­day, April 1, 2016, at Hicks Home for Fu­ner­als, 103 W. Stock­ton St., Elk­ton, MD 21921 with vis­i­ta­tion be­gin­ning at 2 p.m. In­ter­ment will fol­low in Cherry Hill Methodist Ceme­tery, Cherry Hill, MD.

In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Union Hospital cancer pro­gram, Bas­kets of Hope, in care of the fu­neral home.
