Winifred M. Cor­bett, bet­ter known as “Winnie” to those close to her, passed to be with the Lord on March 18, 2016.

Born in Wi n g a t e , MD, on May 11, 1933, she was the daugh­ter of the late Ed­ward Lee and the late Louise Thelma (Turner) Long Sr.

Get­ting to know Winnie was easy, since she never met a stranger. She was al­ways quick to share a warm smile and a kind word. Winnie had a de­sire to help oth­ers. She had a kind heart, a gen­er­ous spirit and a strong work ethic: she started vol­un­teer­ing at Union Hospital in Elk­ton, MD. She joined the Women’s Aux­il­iary there and even­tu­ally served as pres­i­dent of the Ju­nior Board.

In pre­vi­ous years, be­fore her health be­gan to de­cline, she had been ac­tive in two gar­den clubs—Coun­try Thyme Gar­den Club of Ris­ing Sun and All Sea­son’s
