John Bigelow Upp passed away on March 27, 2016. He was born on Oct. 7, 1924 in Mans­field, OH, to the late John Win­ters Upp Jr. and Doris Bigelow Upp and later lived in Wy­omiss­ing, PA.

Af­ter grad­u­at­ing from Phillips Ex­eter Academy in 1943 he en­listed in the U.S. Army Air Force in which he served un­til the fall of 1945 when he was dis­charged with the rank of sec­ond lieu­tenant. He then en­rolled at Cor­nell Univer­sity where he was a mem­ber of the Pi­lot’s Club and served as pres­i­dent of Phi Kappa Sigma fra­ter­nity. Af­ter earn­ing a B.S. de­gree in civil en­gi­neer­ing he joined In­tru­sion Prepakt, Inc., a Cleve­land, Ohio based spe­cialty con­struc­tion firm and re­mained with I.P. and its af­fil­i­ates, Prepakt Con­crete Co., Prepakt Puerto Rico and Con­struc­tion Tech­niques, Inc. un­til 1979 when he re­tired as pres­i­dent and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer.
