John Bigelow Upp
John Bigelow Upp passed away on March 27, 2016. He was born on Oct. 7, 1924 in Mansfield, OH, to the late John Winters Upp Jr. and Doris Bigelow Upp and later lived in Wyomissing, PA.
After graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in which he served until the fall of 1945 when he was discharged with the rank of second lieutenant. He then enrolled at Cornell University where he was a member of the Pilot’s Club and served as president of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. After earning a B.S. degree in civil engineering he joined Intrusion Prepakt, Inc., a Cleveland, Ohio based specialty construction firm and remained with I.P. and its affiliates, Prepakt Concrete Co., Prepakt Puerto Rico and Construction Techniques, Inc. until 1979 when he retired as president and chief executive officer.
