Buddy Ball continues. How many players could turn the ball over six times in a regional final and still be the best player in the game? Buddy Hield, that’s who. His 37-point game against Oregon in the Elite Eight was his 19th game scoring more than 25 points this year, including three of the four games in the NCAA Tournament. This has been reminiscent of Stephen Curry’s run to the Elite Eight in 2008. Hield’s supporting cast is better than Curry’s was at Davidson, but this is still Buddy’s show. Will lose to Villanova on Saturday if... Buddy Ball ends. High-volume scorers like Hield don’t often reach the Final Four. That’s with good reason; eventually hot streaks cool or good teams find a way to limit even the best scorers. Hield is less than a month removed from a six-point effort against West Virginia in the Big 12 Tournament. A night like that would be disastrous for OU.
