Thomas Fos­ter Yonts, Jr.

Thomas Fos­ter Yonts, Jr., age 79, of Elk­ton, MD, went to the Lord on Tues­day, March 29, 2016. Born in Pu­laski, VA, he was the son of the late Thomas F., Sr. and Bessie Smith Yonts.

Tom at­tended the en­gi­neer­ing pro­gram at Vir­ginia Tech and re­mained a coun­try boy his en­tire life. He won multi-state cham­pi­onships with his fox­hunt­ing hounds and proudly coached football for the North East In­di­ans for 12 years. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Tom re­tired from the Chrysler Cor­po­ra­tion, Ne­wark, DE, as a man­ager af­ter 30 years of ser­vice. He en­joyed his well-de­served re­tire­ment and de­vel­oped an ex­per­tise in an­tique fur­ni­ture, wood­work­ing, lo­cal duck de­coys, and gar­den­ing. He was a life­long learner who read ex­ten­sively for the plea­sure of gain­ing knowl­edge. Tom en­joyed daily Tai Chi train­ing and feed­ing his squir­rels. He was an honor­able and de­cent man who lived with grace and kind­ness.

He will be missed and fondly re­mem­bered by his wife, Ruth; sons, John and Michael; grand­son, Brett; and ex­tended fam­ily mem­bers, Jean, Frank, Dustin, Ja­son, Brit­tany and Michelle.

Grave­side ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m., Fri­day, April 1, 2016, in Sharps Ceme­tery, Fair Hill, MD.

In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Amer­i­can Heart As­so­ci­a­tion, in care of Hicks Home for Fu­ner­als, 103 W. Stock­ton Street, Elk­ton, MD 21921.
