Two Sprint Cup driv­ers are both lighter in the pocket fol­low­ing their trip to Auto Club Speedway. Dan­ica Patrick picked up an ex­pected penalty ($20,000 and four races of pro­ba­tion) for ap­proach­ing the track to ges­ture at Kasey Kahne fol­low­ing con­tact that caused a ma­jor crash for Patrick (be­low). Some­what un­ex­pected — and also con­tro­ver­sial — was Kyle Busch’s $10,000 fine and four-race pro­ba­tion af­ter the XFINITY race. Busch, who fin­ished sec­ond, ac­cused NASCAR of “fix­ing races” on his in-car ra­dio af­ter blow­ing a tire on the fi­nal lap.
