Works from “The New Guys” to appear at arts council
Meet “The New Guys” at the Cecil County Arts Council this First Friday.
From 5 to 8 p.m. this Friday, the arts council gallery will host an opening reception with photographers John Dixon and Joe Redden. Their show, “The New Guys, Capturing a Moment in Time,” will appear in the front gallery throughout the month of April. The back gallery will showcase art work based on the theme of “The Road Less Traveled.” Live music will be provided by pianist Frankie Gray, and light refreshments will be available.
Can’t make it? The arts council gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m to 4 p.m., the first Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and also by appointment.
*** The last Wine and Dine for the Arts dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 29, 6:30 p.m. at Minihane’s Irish Pub. Tickets are $50 per person and a portion of the proceeds goes toward arts programming. The menu will be posted on our website and the restaurant can accommodate any food allergies.
Reservations can be made by calling 410-392-5740 or through our website by clicking on the PayPal button.
*** Attention high school seniors, parents and teachers! The deadline to apply for the Cecil County Arts Council’s scholarship is April 8, only two weeks away.
Visit www.cecilcountyartscouncil.org for guidelines, instructions and the application. The scholarship funds must be used primarily for tuition and fees. Funds for the scholarships come from private donors and also from money collected during the Summer Music in the Park concert series.
*** The arts council, Historical Society of Cecil County and other nonprofits are planning to hold a tag sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 14.
Let us be your clutter-busters! Donate your unloved possessions to us and we will find new owners. Looking to add to your collection? This is a great opportunity for you to score discounted books, furniture, frames, art, collectibles, antiques and more.
*** Join the arts council on April 22 as Tilted Canvas holds another paint and sip party from 7 to 9 p.m. in the back gallery. Party pricing is $35 per person or $60 for two and includes a complimentary glass of wine (for those 21 and older) and snacks.
Register online at www. tiltedcanvasparty.com where you can also take a look at what you will be painting. Janie loves it when artists go rogue and make up their own painting based off what others are creating. Come join the fun!
