Eagles upend Tigers in softball
Bohemia Manor Manor defeated host Rising Sun 8-2 in Chesapeake Division softball action on Friday.
Taylor Abshagen threw a complete game, scattering four hits for the Eagles (4-1 overall, 1-1 division), who received three hits, including a double, an RBI and a run scored from Elle Meyer and three hits and three RBIs from Melinda Morgan.
Morgan Mullin (run), Abshagen (two runs, two RBIs), Anna Tidaback (double) and Megan Horsey (RBI) all contributed in the victory.
Kelly Porte and Paige Bradford both singled and scored and Alexa Hull drove in two runs for the Tigers (2-2, 0-2).
Indians topple Elks
North East defeated host Elkton 15-2 in seven innings in Susquehanna Division softball action on Friday.
Jess Choplinsky threw a complete game, giving up five hits and two walks with five strikeouts and added a triple and a run scored at the plate for the Indians (2-2 overall, 2-0 division), who received three RBIs each from Molly Dill (3-5, two runs), Olivia Martin and Brooke Fortune (double, two runs).
Paige Yedinak finished with two hits, Ashely Potts singled and scored and Kaylea Palmer-Stew- art also singled in the victory.
Alexis Crouse and Gabby Arienzo both recorded RBIs and Amanda Simpson and Kaylie Buchanan both scored for the Golden Elks (0-4, 0-2).
Panthers win again
Perryville defeated visiting North Harford 4-1 in Chesapeake Division softball action Friday, winning its fourth-straight game to open the season.
Mara Little threw a complete game, surrendering one run on seven hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts for the Panthers (4-0 overall, 2-0 division), who received a double and two RBIs from Ashley Meekins and a triple, a walk and an RBI from Carly White.
The Hawks fall to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the upper division.
UCBAC Baseball Gregson homers twice in Elks loss
Nick Gregson homered twice but it wasn’t enough as Elkton fell to host Bel Air 9-6 in Chesapeake Division baseball action on Friday.
Gregson finished with five RBIs as part of a monster day at the plate, while on the mound, he surrendered a pair of runs over five innings of work for the Golden Elks (1-3 overall, 0-2 division), who received two hits each from Nathan Bakeoven, Dakota Hodgson and Solomon Harris. Rising Sun fell to visiting Fallston 5-3 in Chesapeake Division baseball action on Friday.
Bryce Logan threw a complete game, scattering six hits and two walks while striking out seven for the Cougars (2-1 overall, 1-1 division), who received two RBIs on hits from Everett Cox, a double and two runs scored from Kyle Hoover and two hits apiece from Noah Hagenstown, Blake Loewe and Ryan Tarrant.
The Tigers (1-3 overall, 0-2 division) led 3-0 after two innings.
UCBAC Boys’ Lacrosse Indians top Aberdeen
North East defeated visiting Aberdeen 10-1 in non-conference boys’ lacrosse action on Friday.
Gunnar Reynolds led the Indians’ (2-1) offense with seven goals and an assist. Connor Duncklee and Alec Borden had a goal and an assist apiece, Zack Bertrand scored once, Braden Buegel handed out three assists and Paul Simpson added an assist.
Alex Miller made five saves in net in the victory.
The Eagles fall to (0-3) overall.
UCBAC Girls’ Lacrosse Eagles shut out by Warriors
Bohemia Manor fell to host Havre de Grace 12-0 in non-divisional girls’ lacrosse action on Friday. The Eagles fall to (0-3) overall. The Warriors improve to (2-0) on the season.
Tigers, Indians delayed
A girls’ lacrosse game between host Rising Sun and North East was delayed with 19:48 left in the second half with the Tigers leading 9-7. The game will be resumed at a date to be determined.
UCBAC Boys’ Lacrosse Eagles downed on road
Bohemia Manor fell to host North Caroline 8-5 in non-conference boys’ lacrosse action on Thursday.
Ridgely Gray scored twice for the Eagles (0-2) and Ryan Manning recorded a goal and an assist, while Silas Whittington and Austin Bramble each added a goal and Mike Crump made 11 saves in cage.
