Harold E. Diem
Harold Edward Diem, 93, of Jennersville, PA, formerly of Fair Hill, MD, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016. Born in Unionville, PA on September 6, 1922, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and E. Mae Sharp Diem.
A 1939 graduate of Oxford High School, Oxford, PA and 1951 graduate of Beacom College, Wilmington DE, Mr. Diem was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He worked at Lukens Steel, Coatesville, PA while operating the family farm in Cochranville, PA. He was employed as an accountant for Franco Wyoming Oil Company, Wilmington and then Avisun Corp. which later became Amoco where he was an accountant and manager of the stores warehouse for sixteen years. He retired in 1982.
Mr. Diem was a Past Master of Skerrett Lodge No. 343 F&AM, Cochranville, PA, where he had been a member for more than 70 years, and a member of Rock Presbyterian Church, Fair Hill for over fifty years where he had served as Clerk of the Session. He also managed Sharp’s Cemetery, Fair Hill. He was a member of the American Rose Society and enjoyed growing roses and sharing the bouquets with friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Diem was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Moore Diem and sister, Jane Pearl.
Survivors include his sisters, Elizabeth Dennis, West Grove, PA, Dorothy Keihm (Neil), and Nancy Christy, all of Jennersville, PA.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, at Rock Presbyterian Church, 30 Rock Church Road, Fair Hill, MD. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and interment will be in Sharp’s Cemetery.
