Ham­mer­s­ley “Pup” Tay­lor, 89, of Ris­ing Sun, MD, died Tues­day, April 12, 2016 at home. Born in North East, MD on April 28, 1926, he was the son of the late Ham­mer­s­ley Tay­lor Sr. and Betty Cul­ley. He was pre­ceded in death by his brother Del­bert Tay­lor.

Ham­mer­s­ley served in World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was an elec­tri­cian and served as the Pres­i­dent of the Board of Elec­tri­cal Con­trac­tors. He was a mem­ber and past pres­i­dent of OUAM Lodge. He was a mem­ber of the Sons of Con­fed­er­ate Vet­er­ans. Ham­mer­s­ley was a mem­ber, Sun­day school teacher and Trustee of Shelemiah Methodist Church.

His in­ter­ests were hunt­ing, fish­ing, crab­bing and watch­ing birds. He al­ways en­joyed spend­ing time with his grand­chil­dren and great grand­chil­dren.

He is sur­vived by his wife of 70 years, Ann Bradley Tay­lor, his chil­dren and their spouses, James and Sally Tay­lor of Wex­ford, PA, Pa­tri­cia and Jerry Clay of Del Ray, WV, Carol and Stephen McKin­ney of North East, MD, Dorothy Tay­lor and Don Pol­lock of Ni­a­gara Falls, NY, Mary Jane Smith of Me­chan­ics­burg, PA, his sis­ter, Joyce Boland of Elk­ton, MD, his grand­chil­dren, Patti, Deanna, Kim, Jen­nifer, Jim, Kelly, Karen and Calum, ten great-grand­chil­dren and Felix, his cat.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held on Sun­day, April 17th, 2 p.m. at Crouch Fu­neral Home, 127 South Main St., North East. Visi­ta­tion will be from 1-2 p.m.

In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made in care of the fu­neral home to Shelemiah United Methodist Church or Amedisys Hospice Care.
