Vote Trapani for council

Cecil Whig - - OPINION -

FROM: RICHARD BOYLE ELKTON

The forthcoming election on Tuesday, April 26, is probably the most important election in many years.

Cecil County is still deeply mired in the Great Recession — there are no good jobs available to raise a family on in Cecil County. Our county’s spending during the past four years has not solved this problem. Too often our politicians try to solve problems by throwing money at them. It’s time for a positive change.

Paul Trapani is the county council candidate who deserves our vote in District 5. He will work to bring jobs to Cecil County without burdening us with higher taxes. Trapani will reduce the red tape and cost of doing business in Cecil County. I met Paul while we both served on the Cecil County Citizen’s Budget Advisory Committee for two years. Paul knows how to identify and eliminate wasteful spending and redundancy by using sound business sense, while not sacrificing services for the citizens of Cecil County. Paul will do this as our councilman for District 5, and he will lead our other council members to do the same.

We have all received the glossy political propaganda postcards asking for our votes, many of which feature candidates promising to be fiscally responsible. My advice is to examine the past records of those current politicians to determine their performance in office. Too often we are given beautiful promises before the election only to see these politicians spend our tax dollars on special interest projects, while raising our taxes and fees and borrowing more money for our children to pay back in the future.

This election is the time when you and I, the citizens of Cecil County, have a say in our county government, how our tax dollars are spent and if our taxes will be raised. It is imperative that all citizens vote in this primary, and vote for conservative, capable candidates who are not obligated to any political action committee or special interest group, but are obligated only to the people of Cecil County.

Paul Trapani is such a man. Vote for Trapani on April 26. I know I will. and patient. He is also compassionate. I was moved by his passion in describing the reduction in the recidivism rate so that persons who have completed their sentences will be able to resume productive lives.

Finally, Kasich is pro-life, literally vital to subsequent generations of children.
