Charles Eu­gene Cox “Gene”

Charles Eu­gene Cox, “Gene”, age 85 passed away on April 22, 2016 in Elk­ton, MD. He was born on March 15, 1931 in Elk­ton, MD to the late, Ge­orge Walker Cox and Vir­gie Ella (Ridinger) Cox.

Gene served in the U.S. Army dur­ing the Korean War. He loved the out­doors and en­joyed hunt­ing and fish­ing. Af­ter re­tir­ing from the U.S. Pub­lic Health Ser­vice at Perry Point, he then worked along­side of Rev­erend Moore at Church of Nazarene. A life­long mem­ber of the church, he served on the church board as trea­surer. He also en­joyed spend­ing time with his fam­ily and es­pe­cially fam­ily get to­geth­ers.

Gene is sur­vived by his wife, Ruth L. Cox of Colora, MD; sons, Charles Ed­ward Cox and com­pan­ion, Tina Hensel of Port De­posit, and Michael Eu­gene Cox and com­pan­ion, Theresa Miller of Colora, MD; grand­son, Charles Evan Cox and fi­ancé, Amanda Racine; sis­ter, Alyce J. Lovelace of Colora, MD; and brother, Jesse H. Cox and wife, Judy Cox of Ris­ing Sun, MD; a sis­ter-in­law, Judy F. Cox of Colora, MD; and nu­mer­ous nieces, neph­ews, and cousins.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, he is pre­ceded in death by his brother, Ge­orge Wayne Cox.

A Cel­e­bra­tion of Gene’s life will be held on Thurs­day, April 28, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Church of Nazarene, 2626 Ja­cob Tome Me­mo­rial High­way, Colora, MD 21917. Fam­ily and friends are wel­come to at­tend the visi­ta­tion at the church be­gin­ning at 10:00AM. Burial will fol­low the ser­vice at West Not­ting­ham Ceme­tery in Colora, MD. In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial con­tri­bu­tions may be made payable to the “Church of the Nazarene” and sent in care to R.T. Foard Fu­neral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Ris­ing Sun, MD 21911.
