Indians down Eagles in girls’ lacrosse
North East defeated visiting Bohemia Manor 16-6 in Susquehanna Division girls’ lacrosse action on Friday.
Brianna Christie led the Indians (6-5 overall, 2-3 division) with six goals and an assist, Amy O’Dell and Mackensie Kilby each recorded hat tricks and Mallory Sharpless scored one goal and had two assists, while Haley Short and Hanna Jezonvik each scored once and Maria Shamblin added an assist.
UCBAC Boys’ Lacrosse Tigers shut out Eagles
Rising Sun defeated visiting Aberdeen 17-0 in Susquehanna Division boys’ lacrosse action on Friday.
Brad Alexander recorded six goals and two assists and Connor Burkhardt had three goals and five assists to lead the Tigers (9-1 overall, 5-0 division). Ryan Yashinskie scored twice and Wyatt Griffith and Ethan Greene each recorded a goal and an assist apiece.
The Eagles fall to 2-8 overall and 2-3 in the lower division.
Indians take down Huskies
North East defeated visiting Patterson Mill 6-4 in Chesapeake Division boys’ lacrosse action on Friday.
Braden Buegel scored twice for the Indians (4-5 overall, 1-3 division). Paul Simpson, Alec Borden, Tanner Moretz and Gunnar Reynolds all scored once, while Alex Miller made 15 saves in net.
The Huskies fall to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the upper division.
Eagles earn first win
Bohemia Manor defeated host Joppatowne 9-8 in Susquehanna Division boys’ lacrosse action on Friday.
The Eagles improve to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the Susquehanna.
The Mariners drop to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the lower division.
Elks dominate Rams
Elkton defeated host Edgewood 20-1 in Susquehanna Division boys’ lacrosse action on Friday.
The Golden Elks improve to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Susquehanna.
The Rams fall to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the lower division.
UCBAC Softball Indians win blowout
North East defeated host Joppatowne 23-1 in Susquehanna Division softball action on Friday.
Jess Choplinsky went 3-5 with a double, three runs scored and four RBIs and Olivia Martin finished 3-5 with a triple, a double, three runs scored and four RBIs for the Indians (10-2 overall, 10-0 division), who received three hits from Emily Jones (three runs) and two hits and three runs each from Molly Dill (two RBIs) and Kasey Barrow.
Morgan Sargent ended with a single, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Rachel Ward added a double and a run scored in the victory.
The Mariners fall to 1-11 overall and 0-11 in the lower division.
Eagles earn win
Bohemia Manor topped host Delaware Military Academy 13-8 in non-conference softball action on Friday.
Taylor Abshagen threw a complete game, giving up eight runs on eight hits and four walks with six strikeouts for the Eagles (10-3), who received three hits from both Zoe Lockwood (double, two RBIs, two runs) and Rachel Jones (run, RBI) and two hits each Abshagen (three runs, RBI) and Anna Tidaback (three runs, RBI).
Morgan Mullin (RBI), Megan Horsey (two RBIs, double, run), Kayla McNeal (run) and Aubrey Heath (run) all had one hit in the victory.
Private School Girls’ Soccer Crusaders pick up win
Tri-State Christian defeated Bensalem Baptist (Pa.) 6-1 in private school girls’ soccer action on Friday.
Lilly Planck (assist), Holly Van Vorhis, Caroline Ford and Savannah Anderson all scored twice, while Callie Jones (two assists) Emma Rhoda (assist) and Sarah Poludniak (assist) all added helpers for the Crusaders (2-3-1 overall, 1-1 MIL), who led 3-0 at halftime.
