J. David Green, “DGSR”
J. David Green, “DGSR”, age 68, of Fair Hill, MD, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, after a heroic two-year battle with cancer.
Dave is survived by his high school sweetheart, best friend and wife of 48 years, Judy; son, Dave “Little Dave” Green and wife, Christy, daughter, Chrissy Green and Jeff Crowl, and son, Steven Green and wife, Heather; grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Eric, Tyler, Hailey and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Eli, Laylonie and Anthony; brothers, Myke Green and wife, Donna, and Denny Green (late wife, Donna); sister, Linda Green; sisters-inlaw, Kathy Hill (late husband, Mel), Beth and Gary Balogh, and Lois Hochstetdler; several nieces and nephews; and mother, Mary Ann Watson. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Green.
Dave owned and operated Fair Hill Auto Center, founding the business in 1988. Both sons later joined him at the shop and together, have built a business which quickly became, and remains, not simply one of the quality auto centers in the area, but also an integral and vital hub of the community, continuing to lovingly serve generations of local families.
Some of Dave’s most treasured activities included spending time in Rehoboth Beach, DE with family and friends, especially sunset happy hours on the bay, golfing (while not a scratch golfer, he did somehow manage three hole-in-ones!), road trips, happy hours at Klondike Kate’s, and an overriding and underlying appreciation of really good music of all times.
Always concerned about the welfare of his community, Dave was an instrumental voice in preserving the unique character and charm of the greater Fair Hill area.
The Green family would like to most graciously thank Katie from Amedisys Hospice and all the wonderful nurses in the Radiology Department at Christiana Care.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Duck. For more information, contact Fair Hill Auto Center (410-398-4900).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to PAWS for People, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
