Ivy Frances Cantler

Ivy Frances Cantler, 91, res­i­dent of North East, MD, for 70 years, passed away Tues­day, April 26, 2016 fol­low­ing a brief ill­ness.

Born in Yately, Eng­land, on April 4, 1925, she was the daugh­ter of the late Thomas and Elis­a­beth Hud­son. She was a Vet­eran of World War II where she served in the Royal Bri­tish Navy. While in the ser­vice, she met and mar­ried her late hus­band of 59 years, Roy E. Cantler. At the con­clu­sion of the war, she re­lo­cated to the United States and be­came a United States Cit­i­zen.

She worked for Ce­cil County Public Schools Food Ser­vices, re­tir­ing in June, 1988. For years, she was an avid gar­dener, grow­ing bushels of toma­toes and a va­ri­ety of veg­eta­bles, that she and her hus­band en­joyed shar­ing with fam­ily and friends. She en­joyed boat­ing, fish­ing, work­ing in her yard and spend­ing time with fam­ily and friends.

Mrs. Cantler is sur­vived by her son: Roy A. and wife, Chris Cantler, Per­ryville, MD; one grand­daugh­ter: Kim­berly Jenk­ins, Ris­ing Sun, MD; four great grand­sons: Austin, James, Thomas, An­drew; and one great grand­daugh­ter: Emma.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents and hus­band, Mrs. Cantler was pre­ceded in death by her broth­ers: Bill and Tom Hud­son; and sis­ter: Kath­leen Sheehy.

The fam­ily wishes to thank the nurses and nurse’s aides of Elk­ton Tran­si­tional Care Cen­ter and Amedisys Hospice.

Fu­neral ser­vice will be held Satur­day, April 30, 11 a.m. at Crouch Fu­neral Home, P.A., 127 South Main St., North East, MD, where the fam­ily will re­ceive guests on Fri­day evening, from 6 un­til 8 p.m.

In­ter­ment will fol­low ser­vices in North East Methodist Ceme­tery.
