Indians sweep Fallston in double header
North East swept a pair of games against visiting Fallston in Susquehanna Division softball action on Monday, topping the Cougars 10-6 in the opener, before earning an 11-4 victory in Game 2.
Jess Choplinsky earned a complete-game victory from the circle in Game 1, allowing seven hits and four walks with five strikeouts for the Indians (12-2 overall, 12-0 division), while Morgan Sargent (two runs, RBI), Choplinsky (double, RBI, run) and Paige Yedinak (RBI, run) all had two hits.
Olivia Martin and Molly Dill both contributed a double and a run, while both Emily Jones and Kaitlyn Stewart singled and scored in the victory.
In Game 2, Dill went the distance from the circle, striking out 13 batters with one run on five hits, while offensively, she went 3-5 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Stewart (RBI) and Choplinsky (two RBIs) both homered, while Martin (two runs) and Yedinak (run) each picked up three hits for North East, which received a single from Kasey Barrow and one run each from Palmer Stewart (two hits), Sargent (single) and Jones (single).
The Cougars fall to 6-8 overall and 6-6 in the lower division.
Eagles win big
Bohemia Manor defeated host North Harford 21-0 in five innings in Chesapeake Division softball action on Monday.
Morgan Mullin (three runs) tripled, doubled and added two RBIs, Taylor Abshagen (two runs) doubled twice with three RBIs and Anna Tidaback (four hits) drove in three runs on three triples with two runs scored for the Eagles (11-3 overall, 7-3 division), who received a triple and two RBIs from Zoe Lockwood, three RBIs and three runs scored from Melinda Morgan and an RBI from Katherine Jones.
Megan Horsey and Kayla McNeal both scored three times and Abigail Heath added an RBI in the victory. Abshagen picked up the win, throwing a complete game, while allowing one hit, one walk and one hit by pitch with eight strikeouts.
The Hawks fall to 9-5 overall and 6-5 in the upper division.
Elks take down Rams
Elkton upended visiting Edgewood 11-1 in Susquehanna Division softball action on Monday.
The Golden Elks improve to 3-11 overall and 3-10 in the Susquehanna.
The Rams fall to 4-9 overall and 4-8 in the lower division. UCBAC Baseball Elks fall short
Elkton fell to host Patterson Mill 4-2 in Chesapeake Division baseball action on Monday.
Nick Gregson threw four innings, racking up eight strikeouts, while allowing two hits and a run scored for the Golden Elks (4-10 overall, 3-9 division), who received an RBI triple and a single from Solomon Harris, an RBI single from Kyle Spencer and a single and a run scored from Anthony Alexander.
Max Elliott (RBI) went 2-3 with a pair of doubles, Nick Cress added a triple and a run scored and Jake Sheeshely added an RBI for the Huskies (10-2, 10-1), who turned three double plays on defense.
Eagles shut out Warriors
Bohemia Manor shut out visiting Havre de Grace 6-0 in Susque- hanna Division baseball action on Monday.
Tyler Ferguson had two hits, including a double, while Josh Heath, Cage Walklett, Bryan Bell and Bo Matherly all had hits for the Eagles (12-1 overall, 10-1 division).
Heath threw six innings of shutout baseball to pick up the win on the mound, finishing with six strikeouts and two hits, while Bell hurled the final frame with one strikeout and no hits.
The Warriors fall to 3-10 overall and 2-8 in the lower division.
Private School Girls’ Soccer Crusaders shut out by Titans
Tri-State Christian fell to visiting Tome 5-0 in MIL girls’ soccer action on Monday. The Titans led 4-0 at halftime. Abby McAndrews had nine saves for the Crusaders (2-4-1 overall, 1-2 MIL).
