Eagles beat Edgewood, clinch Susquehanna Division crown
For just the second time in program history, the Bohemia Manor baseball team has won the Susquehanna Division.
The Eagles captured the lowerdivision crown following a 4-1 victory over host Edgewood on Wednesday.
“Every year that’s our first goal that we try to attain: The Susquehanna Division. It’s tough to win that just because you have 2A and 3A schools in there,” Eagles coach Gary Johnson said. “We’re pretty excited to reach our first goal.”
Bo Matherly recorded a pair of RBIs, while Dillon McFarlin and Josh Malin drove in one run each for Bo Manor (13-2 overall, 11-0 division).
Will Lorman threw a complete game from the mound, allowing three hits with five strikeouts for the Eagles.
The Rams fall to 8-6 overall and 6-5 in the lower division.
Panthers fall short vs. Aberdeen
Perryville fell to visiting Aberdeen 3-2 in Susquehanna Division baseball action on Wednesday.
Brady Krahn (run) and Gunther Prevost both recorded RBIs for the Panthers (6-8 overall, 6-6 division), who trailed 3-1 entering the seventh inning.
Andrew Brndjar allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over seven innings for the Eagles (9-5, 9-2), who received one RBI each from Sam Smith, Jake Murdock and Dylan Mariano.
Indians blank Warriors
North East shut out host Havre de Grace 5-0 in Susquehanna Division baseball action on Wednesday.
Cameron Blankenship threw a complete game, giving up three hits and struck out seven for the Indians (8-7 overall, 5-6 division), who scored five runs on three hits.
Blankenship and Colt Price both delivered sacrifice flies on offense, while Patrick O’Brien added an RBI single in the victory.
The Warriors slip to 3-11 overall and 2-9 in the lower division.
Elks shut out Hawks
Elkton defeated visiting North Harford 5-0 in Chesapeake Division baseball action on Monday.
Kyle Spencer went the distance on the mound, scattering three hits with seven strikeouts, while at the dish he delivered a two-RBI double for the Golden Elks (510 overall, 4-9 division), who received two doubles, a run scored and an RBI from Solomon Harris and two hits each from Nick Gregson, Troy Cherwaty and Dakota Hodgson.
Matt Coy added a single, scored and registered an RBI in the victory.
The Hawks fall to 8-7 overall and 6-7 in the upper division.
Tigers fall to Huskies
Rising Sun fell to host Patterson Mill 9-3 in Chesapeake Division baseball action on Wednesday.
Aaron Richardson went 1-3 with a double and a run scored and Phil Lyons added a double and a run, while Jack Stewart and Noah Juergens both recorded two hits and an RBI for the Tigers (6-9 overall, 5-8 division).
Jacob Michael (three runs) finished 3-3 with a home run, a triple, two walks, two RBIs and two stolen bases for the Huskies (112, 11-1), who received two RBIs from Jack Sheesley and one RBI and two runs each from Max Elliott (stolen base) and Nick Cress (two stolen bases). Molly Dill earned the win in a complete-game effort, scattering four hits while striking out 13 for the Indians (13-2 overall, 13-0 division), who received a three-run home run and two runs scored from both Paige Yedinak and Olivia Martin.
Rachel Ward went 3-3 with an RBI and Kaitlyn Stewart added two hits and two runs, while Ashley Potts, Kaylea Palmer-Stewart and Morgan Sargent (run) all singled in the victory.
The Warriors fall to 9-6 overall and 9-4 in the lower division.
Eagles down Mustangs
Bohemia Manor topped host C.M. Wright 6-2 in Chesapeake Division softball action on Wednesday.
Rachel Jones (RBI) and Aubrey Heath both had two hits and a run scored, while Morgan Mullin (RBI), Anna Tidaback and Megan Horsey (two RBIs) all doubled and scored once for the Eagles (12-3 overall, 8-3 division), who received one hit each from Zoe Lockwood and Taylor Abshagen.
From the circle, Abshagen threw a complete game, allowing three hits and three walks, while striking out three for the victory.
The Mustangs fall to 10-4 overall and 7-4 in the upper division.
Youth Soccer U-11 Girls’ Soccer Kirkwood Academy 3, Cecil 2
The Cecil Dynamite fell to Kirkwood Academy 3-2 in youth soccer action on Saturday.
Paige Racine and Autumn Walston recorded goals for Cecil (2-2), while Bella Rittenhouse dished out an assist.
Peyton Hill recorded seven saves in the net for the Dynamite.
Cecil 2, GVSCA 1
Cecil rebounded for a win on Sunday, topping the GVSCA Cheetahs 2-1.
Tori Pierce scored twice off of assists from Amelia Gatusso and Olanrewaju Famikinwa for Cecil, which received strong defense from Gatusso, Colleen Nelsen and Sophie Cease and five saves in net from Hill.
