Robert Hick­man Fields, Jr. “Bob” “John­nie”

Robert H. Fields, 78 of North East, MD and Sum­mer f i e l d , FL, died Fri­day, May 6, 2016 in Union Hos­pi­tal, Elkton, MD af­ter a coura­geous 26 year bat­tle with heart disease. Bob was born Fe­bru­ary 7, 1938 in Tazewell, VA to the par­ents of Ethel Phoebe Church and John­nie Fields.

Bob proudly served for six years in the United States Air Force. Be­fore re­tir­ing, Bob was em­ployed at Gen­eral Ca­ble, Perelli Ca­ble, Thiokol, Daily Ex­press Truck­ing and was an in­de­pen­dent trucker for over 25 years. Bob en­joyed play­ing cards and horse rac­ing at Delaware Park, as well as spend­ing time at his Florida res­i­dence. He was an avid sports fan who fol­lowed his beloved Ori­oles and Ravens faith­fully. Cen­tral to his life, were his chil­dren and grand­chil­dren for whom Bob showed an ex­treme love and cared for deeply.

Bob is sur­vived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years: Betty L. Fields; his chil­dren: De­bra Dacey (James), North East, MD, Jef­frey Fields (Deb­o­rah), Charlestown, MD, Michael Fields (Robin), Elkton, MD and Cathy Ha­ley (Pa­trick), Ris­ing Sun, MD; grand­chil­dren: James Dacey, Kristin Dacey, Daniel Smith, Ash­ley Fields, Jamie Fields, Keith Smith and Michael Fields; and great grand­chil­dren: Tori, Jaren, Cole, Kyleigh and Lilly. Also sur­viv­ing are his sis­ters: Shirley Ewing and Bar­bara Daniels; and his brother: Eu­gene Ste­wart, as well as mul­ti­ple nieces and neph­ews and his Aunt He­len, whom he cher­ished.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Bob was pre­ceded in death by his grand­son: Kyle Dacey; his brother: Charles Ste­wart; and his step­fa­ther: Charles H. Ste­wart, Sr.

Ser­vices will be held on Wed­nes­day, May 11, 2016 at 10:00 am at Crouch Fu­neral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. Fam­ily and friends may call on Tues­day even­ing, from 6:00 pm un­til 8:00 pm at the fu­neral home.

Burial will fol­low the ser­vices in Rose Bank Ceme­tery, Calvert, MD.
