Trio of Ris­ing Sun ten­nis play­ers headed to re­gion­als


The Ris­ing Sun girls’ dou­bles team and its top girls’ sin­gles player placed at the Ch­e­sa­peake Di­vi­sion Ten­nis Tour­na­ment at Bel Air High School on Mon­day, ad­vanc­ing to the Re­gion VII Tour­na­ment next week­end.

The Tigers duo of Bri­anna Rohrer and Anna Chidester bat­tled to a sec­ond-place fin­ish in girls’ dou­bles, falling in the fi­nal 6-0, 6-0 to a pair of team­mates from Fall­ston.

Ris­ing Sun’s Tara Norona placed third over­all in girls’ sin­gles af­ter she topped North Har­ford’s Al­lie Ket­tell in the con­so­la­tion fi­nal.

UCBAC Soft­ball Pan­thers re­main per­fect

Per­ryville up­ended vis­it­ing Edge­wood 12-0 in five in­nings in non-di­vi­sional soft­ball ac­tion on Mon­day to re­main un­de­feated on the sea­son.

The win came on Se­nior Day at Trego Field.

Ni­cole DiGi­ambat­tista (dou­ble) and Ly­dia Hill (triple) both drove in two runs, while Am­ber Keene (dou­ble, two runs), Carly White, Jor­dyn Reese (dou­ble), Mara Lit­tle (run), Sierra John­son (run) and Brooke Reynolds (dou­ble, run) all added one RBI each for the Pan­thers (17-0).

Hill threw four in­nings, al­low­ing one hit and three walks with seven strike­outs and Emily Phillips tossed a per­fect in­ning with two strike­outs in the vic­tory.

The Rams fall to 4-13 over­all.

In­di­ans shut out Tigers

North East de­feated host Ris­ing Sun 2-0 in di­vi­sional soft­ball ac­tion on Mon­day.

Kasey Bar­row (RBI dou­ble) and Molly Dill (run) both went 2-3, while Jess Cho­plin­sky added an RBI dou­ble and Kait­lyn Ste­wart walked and scored for the In­di­ans (15-2).

Mor­gan Sar­gent picked up the win from the cir­cle, throw­ing three in­nings and strik­ing out eight of the 11 bat­ters she faced with no hits and one walk. Dill then fol­lowed by toss­ing four frames with four strike­outs, two hits and three walks.

Ally Brad­ford dou­bled and Rea- gan Con­nell sin­gled for the Tigers (5-11). Con­nell also pro­vided a com­plete-game ef­fort from the cir­cle, al­low­ing seven hits and one walk with five strike­outs.


Youth Soc­cer Kick­ers bat­tle to tie

The Ce­cil Kick­ers bat­tled PHWM to a 2-2 draw over the week­end.

Gabriella Pi­leggi and Say­lor Bare both scored one unas­sisted goal each, while Shadai Givens recorded 13 saves in net for Ce­cil (1-1-2).


Bo­hemia Manor ju­nior Natalie Lopez, pic­tured, topped Per­ryville’s Emily James 2-6, 6-1 and 6-2 at Aberdeen High School on Mon­day to cap­ture her sec­ond con­sec­u­tive Susque­hanna Di­vi­sion girls’ sin­gles crown.
