Rising Sun girls’ lax looks to get back on track
The Rising Sun girls’ lacrosse team starts its second season this afternoon.
The Tigers earned the second seed in the 3A-2A North Region Section II Tournament and will host Eastern Technical, out of Baltimore, at 5 p.m.
Rising Sun saw its sixgame winning streak snapped on Thursday at the hands of North East. Play was resumed from a weather-delayed game more than a month prior, so the teams only took the field to make up the final 18:48. The Tigers, a team that had struggled with slow starts this season, saw their two-goal lead disappear. The loss was Rising Sun’s first in three weeks.
The Tigers (7-5) fell to upper-division North Harford two days later, 15-4, and are entering the postseason looking to end the mini-skid. Eastern Technical fell to the Hawks 16-1 on March 31.
The Mavericks enter with just one win on the campaign, a 13-2 win over Aberdeen—a team Rising Sun defeated 12-5. Eastern Technical fell to another UCABC team, Harford Tech, 14-9, on April 27.
If Rising Sun earns the first-round win Wednesday, it will host either CM Wright or Aberdeen on Friday.

Junior Nick Roberts leads the Perryville boys’ lacrosse team into the postseason. The Panthers enter the playoffs on a four-game winning streak, and Roberts has scored at least 10 points in each of those contests.
