Elkton-area con­ve­nience store robbed at gun­point

— A gun­man re­mained on the loose Tues­day af­ter rob­bing an Elk­tonarea con­ve­nience store, ac­cord­ing to the Mary­land State Police.

The holdup oc­curred about 8:15 p.m. Fri­day, sec­onds af­ter the sus­pect walked into the High’s Dairy Store in the 5600 block of Tele­graph Road (Route 273), near the Blue Ball Road in­ter­sec­tion, north of Elkton, re­ported Lt. James DeCourcey, com-

“He ap­proached the counter, dis­played a snub-nosed re­volver and de­manded money,” DeCourcey said.

The em­ployee be­hind the counter sur­ren­dered an undis­closed sum of cash to the gun­man, who then ran out of the store and fled on foot, he added.

MSP de­tec­tives con­tin­ued to study video gleaned from store sur­veil­lance cam­eras on Tues­day, in hopes of iden­ti­fy­ing the sus­pect, ac­cord­ing to police.

The sus­pect is de­scribed as a white man, about 5-feet11-inches tall with a slim build. He was wear­ing a hooded sweat­shirt and gray jeans.

MSP Sr. Trooper Timothy Leubecker, who is as­signed to the North East bar­rack, is the lead in­ves­ti­ga­tor. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion that might help de­tec­tives iden­tify the armed rob­bery sus­pect is asked to call the North East bar­rack at 410996-7800.
