— A gunman remained on the loose Tuesday after robbing an Elktonarea convenience store, according to the Maryland State Police.
The holdup occurred about 8:15 p.m. Friday, seconds after the suspect walked into the High’s Dairy Store in the 5600 block of Telegraph Road (Route 273), near the Blue Ball Road intersection, north of Elkton, reported Lt. James DeCourcey, com-
mander of MSP’s Northern Region Criminal Enforcement Unit.
“He approached the counter, displayed a snub-nosed revolver and demanded money,” DeCourcey said.
The employee behind the counter surrendered an undisclosed sum of cash to the gunman, who then ran out of the store and fled on foot, he added.
MSP detectives continued to study video gleaned from store surveillance cameras on Tuesday, in hopes of identifying the suspect, according to police.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 5-feet11-inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gray jeans.
MSP Sr. Trooper Timothy Leubecker, who is assigned to the North East barrack, is the lead investigator. Anyone with information that might help detectives identify the armed robbery suspect is asked to call the North East barrack at 410996-7800.
