Pansy Wad­dell, 86, of Elk Mills, MD, passed away on Satur­day, May 14, 2016 in the Heart­land Hos­pice House, Wi l m i n g - ton, DE.

Born in Wilkes County, NC, on De­cem­ber 24, 1929, she was the daugh­ter of the late John and Flossie (Casey) Hol­brook. She was the wife of John Pre­ston Wad­dell who pre­ceded her in death on March 30, 1993.

Pansy was a mem­ber of Bald­win UM Church, Elk Mills, MD and also at­tended North East Church of God, North East, MD.

She was a great cook, with one of her spe­cial­ties be­ing the best veg­etable soup. She en­joyed gar­den­ing, quilt­ing, coun­try mu­sic, and was an avid fan of Del Reeves. Most of all she loved her fam­ily, cook­ing for them and en­joy­ing time spent with them, es­pe­cially her grand­chil­dren and great grand­chil­dren.

Sur­vivors in­clude her two sons: Pre­ston Wayne Wad­dell (Robin) of Elk Mills, MD, Clin­ton D. Wad­dell of Cherry Hill, MD; sonin-law: Larry Jones of Elk Mills, MD; a sis­ter: Bar­bara Sell­ers (Michael) of Thur­mond, NC; three broth­ers: Clyde Hol­brook (Shirley) of Elk Mills, MD, Mack Hol­brook (Bev) of Colora, MD, Bobby Hol­brook (Rita) of Elkin, NC; 7 grand­chil­dren: Gina Wad­dell Cooper, Eric Wad­dell, Jaysin Wad­dell, Jonathan Wad­dell, Brandy Wyne­gar, Kris­ten Edge and Ryan Jones; 10 great grand­chil­dren; 2 great- great grand­chil­dren; and her best friend: Becky Pen­ning­ton of Ne­wark, DE.

In ad­di­tion to her hus­band and par­ents, Pansy was also pre­ceded in death by a son: Richard D. “Doug” Wad­dell; a daugh­ter: Rita L. Jones; and 5 sib­lings: Carl Hol­brook, Lundy Hol­brook, Claude Hol­brook, Mazie Campbell and Muriel Stout.

Funeral ser­vice, con­ducted by Rev. Charles Ros­siter will be held Satur­day, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visi­ta­tion will be­gin at 10:00 am un­til ser­vice time.

In­ter­ment will fol­low ser­vices in Rose­bank Ceme­tery, Ris­ing Sun, MD.

In lieu of flow­ers, the fam­ily re­quest me­mo­rial dona­tions to Bald­win UM Church Fire Re­cov­ery Fund, in care of the funeral home.
