Joseph Costa, age 92, of Elkton, MD, passed away peace­fully on Mon­day, May 16, 2016. Born in Bal­ti­more, MD, on Febr uar y 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Vito and Rosa Costa.

Mr. Costa was a U.S. Navy vet­eran of World War II and Korea, hav­ing served from 1942 un­til 1962. He then worked for the U.S. Army Corps of En­gi­neers, Ch­e­sa­peake City, MD, re­tir­ing after more than 20 years of ser­vice. He was a mem­ber of Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Church, Elkton, the Fleet Re­serve As­so­ci­a­tion, and VFW Post #8175, Elkton. Mr. Costa loved spend­ing time with his fam­ily, es­pe­cially his grand­chil­dren and great­grand­chil­dren. He en­joyed bowl­ing and was a mem­ber of the Elkton Se­nior Bowl­ing League.

Sur­vivors in­clude his wife of 62 years, Caro­line M. Costa; chil­dren, Vic Costa and wife, Sue, Rock Hall, MD, and Pam Cronauer and hus­band, Joe, Ne­wark, DE; 4 grand­chil­dren, Kelly Suppe and hus­band, Matt, Lind­say Edwards and hus­band, Ja­son, and Ryan and Jen­nifer Cronauer; 4 great-grand­chil­dren, Vic­to­ria, Matthew and Michael Suppe, and Jack Edwards; and niece, Diana DeMond.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Mr. Costa was pre­ceded in death by his sib­lings, Frank and Sa­muel Costa, and Mary Grace Sara­cino.

Visi­ta­tion will be held from 5 p.m. un­til 7 p.m., Wed­nes­day, May 18, 2016, at Hicks Home for Fu­ner­als, 103 W. Stock­ton Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated at 11 a.m., Thurs­day, May 19, at Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD. In­ter­ment with mil­i­tary hon­ors will be in Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Ceme­tery, Cherry Hill, MD.

Con­tri­bu­tions may be made to Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Church, or to Amedisys Hos­pice, in care of the funeral home at the above ad­dress.
