— A man accused of robbing an Elkton- area convenience store at gunpoint last week remained jailed on Wednesday night, after a tip helped investigators capture him earlier that day, police reported.
The suspect, Tyler Holbrook, 32, of Gooseneck Court in Elkton, allegedly robbed the Express Mart in the 2200 block of East Old Philadelphia Road, near the West Pulaski Highway intersection, about 8: 05 p. m. on May 18, police said.
As the suspect approached the cashier, police added, he had his left hand concealed beneath his gray, long- sleeve Tshirt — apparently concealing a handgun — and he had the top of that shirt pulled up in an attempt to cover his face.
After the worker surrendered an undisclosed sum of cash to him, the suspect hurried out the store, police reported.
A store surveillance camera videotaped the holdup, and Cecil County Sheriff’s Office detectives later posted that footage on the agency’s Facebook
page — which played a major role in identifying the suspect, according to police.
“Concerned citizens contacted investigators after watching the initial video of the robbery,” reported CCSO Cpl. Michael Kalinsky, an agency spokesman, explaining that the information provided by those citizens helped detectives develop Holbrook as the suspect.
That, in turn, led to investigators tracking down Holbrook and capturing him Wednesday, according to police.
Holbrook was held in the Cecil County Detention Center without bond on Wednesday night.
Scheduled for a June 24 preliminary hearing, Holbrook is charged with armed robbery, first- degree assault, theft of less than $ 1,000, reckless endangerment, use of a handgun in the commission of a felony or crime of violence and three other offenses, according to Cecil County District Court records.
