Lit­tle­ton Fletcher “Lit” Pow­ell, Jr., age 90, of Ne­wark, DE, passed away on Wed­nes­day, May 25, 2016 . Born in Onan­cock, VA, on Dec. 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Lit­tle­ton F., Sr. and Sally Fin­ney Pow­ell.

A U.S. Navy vet­eran of World War II, Mr. Pow­ell re­tired as gen­eral man­ager of the Ce­cil Whig Print­ing Divi­sion. He was a mem­ber of Light­house Bap­tist Church, Ne­wark. An avid his­tory buff, Mr. Pow­ell loved trav­el­ing, read­ing and col­lect­ing light­houses.

Sur­vivors in­clude his wife of 22 years, Lu­cille Pow­ell; daugh­ter-in-law, Ar­lene Pow­ell, Elkton, MD; grand­chil­dren, Shan­non An­der­son, Elkton, MD, and Shawn D. Pow­ell and wife, Amanda, Durham, NC; great-grand­chil­dren, Sa­van­nah and Caleb An­der­son, Elkton, MD, and Reese, Maeve and Beck­ett Pow­ell, Durham, NC; step-sons, Paul Crothers, Ne­wark, DE, and James Crothers and wife, Bar­bara, Unionville, PA; and sib­lings, John Pow­ell and wife, Dorothy, Seaford, DE, James Pow­ell and wife, Elaine, Spring­field, VA, and Amanda Ni­chols and hus­band, Bob, Ber­lin, MD.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Mr. Pow­ell was pre­ceded in death by his first wife, Mar­ian Pow­ell; and son, Larry D. Pow­ell.

Fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 12 Noon, Tues­day, May 31, 2016, at Hicks Home for Funer­als, 103 W. Stock­ton Street, Elkton, MD, where vis­i­ta­tion will be­gin at 10 a.m. In­ter­ment with mil­i­tary hon­ors will be in Cherry Hill Methodist Ceme­tery, Cherry Hill, MD.
