— A couple steps put in locally will have a global impact.

On Thursday, Mount Aviat Academy hosted a student Walk2Rebuild walk-athon for Ecuador. To date, Mount Aviat has raised $11,000, according to the school officials. All money raised will go toward rebuilding several schools that were destroyed in earthquakes in April.

The Oblate Sisters challenged the students to bring in their sponsorship forms, agreeing to wear colorful sneakers for the walk if they did. Some sisters had not worn other shoes in almost 60 years.
