Ce­cil County soft­ball places nine play­ers on first-team All-Ch­e­sa­peake

Twelve Ce­cil County play­ers earned a spot on this year’s UCBAC All-Ch­e­sa­peake Di­vi­sion soft­ball team, in­clud­ing nine first­team selections.

Per­ryville, which fin­ished the sea­son un­de­feated, cap­tured the 1A State Cham­pi­onship and se­cured the up­per di­vi­sion crown, had seven ath­letes named first team.

Pitcher Emily Phillips, catcher Carly White, in­field­ers Ly­dia Hill, Jor­dyn Reese and Kait­lyn Grif­fin and out­field­ers Ash­ley Meekins and Am­ber Keene all earned first-team nods, join­ing Ris­ing Sun out­fielder Kelly Porte and Bohemia Manor’s Tay­lor Ab­sha­gen (util­ity), who also earned first team spots.

Phillips posted a 10-0 mark with a 1.66 ERA and 50 strike­outs in 59 in­nings pitched prior to state semi­fi­nal play, while White en­tered the state tour­na­ment with a .500 bat­ting av­er­age over 70 at-bats, with three home runs, three triples, eight dou­bles and 29 RBI.

Hill, Meekins, Keene and Ab­sha­gen all fin­ished the year with over 20 runs driven in.

In­fielder Anna Tid­aback, catcher Mor­gan Mullin and out­fielder Zoe Lock­wood all earned sec­ond-team Al­lCh­e­sa­peake Di­vi­sion for the sec­ond-place Ea­gles.

North East, which ad­vanced to the 2A State semi­fi­nals and cap­tured the Susque­hanna Di­vi­sion with an un­de­feated mark, placed three play­ers on first-team All-Susque­hanna and added an­other on sec­ond team.

Catcher Kait­lyn Ste­wart, pitcher Molly Dill and in­fielder Olivia Martin all made first team for the In­di­ans, while in­fielder Jess Cho­plin­sky re­ceived a spot on sec­ond team.

Elk­ton in­fielder Gabby Arienzo and Amanda Simp­son (util­ity) also earned spots on sec­ond-team All-Susque­hanna Di­vi­sion.
