Cecil County softball places nine players on first-team All-Chesapeake
Twelve Cecil County players earned a spot on this year’s UCBAC All-Chesapeake Division softball team, including nine firstteam selections.
Perryville, which finished the season undefeated, captured the 1A State Championship and secured the upper division crown, had seven athletes named first team.
Pitcher Emily Phillips, catcher Carly White, infielders Lydia Hill, Jordyn Reese and Kaitlyn Griffin and outfielders Ashley Meekins and Amber Keene all earned first-team nods, joining Rising Sun outfielder Kelly Porte and Bohemia Manor’s Taylor Abshagen (utility), who also earned first team spots.
Phillips posted a 10-0 mark with a 1.66 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 59 innings pitched prior to state semifinal play, while White entered the state tournament with a .500 batting average over 70 at-bats, with three home runs, three triples, eight doubles and 29 RBI.
Hill, Meekins, Keene and Abshagen all finished the year with over 20 runs driven in.
Infielder Anna Tidaback, catcher Morgan Mullin and outfielder Zoe Lockwood all earned second-team AllChesapeake Division for the second-place Eagles.
North East, which advanced to the 2A State semifinals and captured the Susquehanna Division with an undefeated mark, placed three players on first-team All-Susquehanna and added another on second team.
Catcher Kaitlyn Stewart, pitcher Molly Dill and infielder Olivia Martin all made first team for the Indians, while infielder Jess Choplinsky received a spot on second team.
Elkton infielder Gabby Arienzo and Amanda Simpson (utility) also earned spots on second-team All-Susquehanna Division.
