PAWS for Peo­ple to hold ther­apy team train­ing

— Do you have a gen­tle, peo­ple-friendly pet who might be good at bring­ing a smile to chil­dren and adults with vary­ing needs?

PAWS for Peo­ple is hold­ing two up­com­ing train­ing ses­sions for po­ten­tial PAWS ther­apy teams on the first and last Tues­day of the month, June 7 and 28. Both ses­sions will be held at the Har­ford County Sher­iff’s Of­fice, lo­cated at 3726 Nor­risville Road in Jar­rettsville. At­ten­dance at both ses­sions, which run 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., is re­quired.

vid­ing pet visi­ta­tion and ther­apy ser­vices to fa­cil­i­ties through­out Delaware and parts of Penn­syl­va­nia, New Jer­sey and Maryland. Ther­apy teams con­sist of one vol­un­teer and one pet who have both com­pleted train­ing and test­ing. Visi­ta­tion sites range from nurs­ing homes and hos­pi­tals to schools and li­braries, with a wide va­ri­ety of pro­grams in­clud­ing elder­care, psy­chi­atric sup­port, de­vel­op­men­tal dis­abil­i­ties and lit­er­acy skills de­vel­op­ment.
