James S. Dickey, 69, of Bear, Delaware, died on Satur­day, June 4, 2016.

He re­ceived his early ed­u­ca­tion in East Wil­lis­ton School District and grad­u­ated from The Wheat­ley School (High School) class of 1965 in New York. James at­tended New York State Univer­sity Col­lege at Farm­ing­dale and the Univer­sity of Ver­mont re­ceived dual de­grees in En­gi­neer­ing and Busi­ness.

In his pro­fes­sional ca­reer, he was a U.S. Mer­chant Marine Of­fi­cer (Chief En­gi­neer) for many years. James also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Later in life, he worked for Fed­eral Ex­press as a fa­cil­ity en­gi­neer at the Ne­wark Air­port; for Tex­aco as the Port En­gi­neer in Delaware City, DE; for Lanx­ide Corp. as their fa­cil­ity en­gi­neer in Ne­wark, DE, and as a tax agent with H&R Block.

He is sur­vived by his wife Lynn Sitkowski Dickey of 46 years: his two sons and their wives Ja­son and Maria Dickey of Tow­son, MD, and Justin and Al­li­son Dickey of Al­loway, NJ, his three grand­chil­dren Ja­cob, Jeremiah and Cameron, and two sisters, Alice Tar­lach of Brick, NJ, and El­iz­a­beth Prince of Mays Land­ing, NJ.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thurs­day, June 9 at the Elk­ton Pres­by­te­rian Church, 209 E Main St., Elk­ton, MD 21921. Af­ter the ser­vice, a re­cep­tion with re­fresh­ments will be served by the Pres­by­te­rian Women. A view­ing will be held at the church for friends and fam­ily from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

In­ter­ment will be held at the Maple Grove Ceme­tery, 83-15 Kew Gar­dens Road, Kew Gar­dens, New York 11415 on Fri­day, June 10 at 1 p.m. Fam­ily and friends are wel­comed.

In lieu of flow­ers, please make do­na­tions to Elk­ton Pres­by­te­rian Church, 209 East Main St., Elk­ton MD 21921 ded­i­cated to the “Build­ing Preser­va­tion Fund.”
