2016 All-County Softball
Coach of the Year Dave Ruark, Perryville Guided Panthers to first state championship in program history, finishing postseason run with a comefrom-behind, 10-9, walk-off victory over Boonsboro in the 1A State Final at University of Maryland in College Park … coached team to an undefeated record, ending the season with a perfect 22-0 mark … led team to Chesapeake Division crown … constructed a lethal lineup top to bottom that outscored opponents 176-24 over 17 regularseason games … earned nine shutouts, including a 15-0 win over Pikesville in the 1A State semifinals … won five consecutive postseason contests, scoring less than double-digits only once … earned an 8-0 record against Cecil County opponents.

Carly White Perryville, Sr., UTL Middle-of-the-order slugger who paced the Panthers’ offense with a .506 batting average, five home runs and 36 RBI through 22 games … ended the season with 17 extra-base hits … produced monster postseason, connecting for two home runs, two triples, four doubles and 13 RBI in five playoff contests to help guide team to first state title in program history … strong defensive catcher who did not allow a passed ball all season … named first-team All-Chesapeake Division … back-to-back All-County selection.
Taylor Abshagen Bohemia Manor, Jr., P From the circle, posted a 14-2 record with a 2.07 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 94 2-3 innings … powerful cleanup hitter at the plate, following up her 2015 Player of the Year performance by hitting .319 … tied for team lead with 21 RBI … added nine runs scored and two home runs … named first-team All-Chesapeake Division … three-time All-County selection.
Molly Dill North East, Fr., P Ended year with a 0.58 ERA from the circle with 91 strikeouts over 61 innings … entered nearly every playoff game as a reliever during Indians’ run to the 2A State semifinals, finishing postseason only allowing four earned runs in four appearances … at the plate, batted .544 with two home runs, two double, one triple and 16 RBI … added 26 runs as the team’s leadoff hitter with a .595 on-base percentage … helped squad to Susquehanna Division championship ... first-team All-Susquehanna Division.
Emily Phillips Perryville, Jr., P Ace of the Panthers who went 11-0 with an ERA just over 2.00 in 75 innings pitched … tossed seven complete games, including going the distance with 13 strikeouts in an 8-3 victory over McDonough in the 1A North Region Final ... at the plate, hit over .400 with eight RBI … first-team All-Chesapeake Division … 2015 honorable mention selection.
Kaitlyn Stewart North East, Jr., C Athletic catcher who displayed strong arm and leadership ability … compiled .345 batting average with two home runs, four triples, four doubles and 20 RBI … added 24 runs scored, including the game-winning tally in team’s 1-0 extra-inning victory over Rising Sun in 2A East Region Section I semifinals … first-team All-Susquehanna Division … back-to-back AllCounty selection and 2014 honorable mention choice.
Kaitlyn Griffin Perryville, Sr., IF Dependable third baseman and strong hitter who batted fifth in the Panthers’ lineup … hit over .440 with 25 runs scored … belted one home run, one triple and added 17 RBI … also stole nine bases … back-to-back All-County selection.
Lydia Hill Perryville, Sr., IF Senior leader, strong defensive first baseman and dynamic hitter who batted third in Panthers’ lineup … finished season hitting .446 with 29 RBI and 21 runs scored … went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI to help lead Perryville past Boonsboro, 10-9, in the 1A State Championship game and secure program’s first-ever state crown … ended year with one home run, three triples and four doubles … first-team All-Chesapeake Division … back-to-back AllCounty selection.
Melinda Morgan Bohemia Manor, So., IF Middle-of-the-order hitter who led team with a .424 batting average and .479 onbase percentage … tied for the team lead with 21 RBI … belted seven doubles, two triples and one home run to go along with 20 runs scored … 2015 honorable mention selection.
Anna Tidaback Bohemia Manor, So., IF Shortstop who batted in middle of the order, finishing with .419 batting average and 19 RBI … led team with seven triples ... added six doubles and shared team lead with two home runs … paced Eagles with 31 base hits and .770 slugging percentage … second-team All-Chesapeake Division.
Amber Keene Perryville, So., OF Strong defender and dominant slugger who hit just under .500 as the Panthers’ leadoff hitter … finished year with 29 runs scored and 23 RBI … added four doubles, two triples and one home run … first-team All-Chesapeake Division … back-to-back AllCounty selection.
Ashley Meekins Perryville, Jr., OF Two-hole hitter for Panthers who batted nearly .400 with 25 runs scored and 23 RBI … produced five home runs, four doubles and two triples … delivered the game-winning RBI to deliver Perryville a walk-off victory in extra innings over Boonsboro in the 1A State Final, securing program its firstever state crown … first-team All-Chesapeake Division … back-to-back All-County selection.
Morgan Mullin Bohemia Manor, Fr., OF Lead-off hitter who led team with 28 runs scored … prolific table setter who batted .382 with team-high 20 singles … added six doubles, two triples and one home run … finished season with 16 RBI … second-team AllChesapeake Division.
