An­thony J. “Tony” Springel, 57, of Ris­ing Sun, MD, passed away sud­denly at home on Thurs­day, June 16, 2016.

He was the hus­band of Theresa C. “Terri” ( Sch­midt) Springel. Born in Ch­ester PA, he was the son of Lor­raine C. (Hoag) Springel and the late An­thony M. Springel.

Tony was a 1977 grad­u­ate of Ox­ford Area High School and was for­merly em­ployed as a ma­chin­ist with Brandy­wine Val­ley Fab­ri­ca­tors, Coatesville PA and Mor­ton Thiokol, Elk­ton, MD. In 1983 he ful­filled his dream of start­ing his own com­pany and he re­mained the sole pro­pri­etor of A J Springel Con­struc­tion, Inc. un­til his death.

Tony was a proud mem­ber of the NRA, Jaeger Sports­man’s Club, Ox­ford Gun Club and Strasburg Sports­man’s As­so­ci­a­tion. He was a coach for Ce­cil Soc­cer and also coached and spon­sored Ris­ing Sun Lit­tle League soft­ball and base­ball teams. He was a mem­ber of Good Shep­herd Par­ish, Per­ryville, MD and for­mer mem­ber of Sa­cred Heart Par­ish, Ox­ford, PA.

In ad­di­tion to be­ing an avid hunter, fish­er­man and out­doors­man since child­hood, Tony en­joyed the ocean, camp­ing, scuba div­ing, NASCAR, gar­den­ing and va­ca­tion­ing with fam­ily and friends. Above all else, Tony’s great­est love was his fam­ily,
