Anne M. Swan
Anne M. Swan, “Gram”, age 88, of Landenberg, PA passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016. She was born on June 30, 1927 in Fair Hill, MD to the late C. Stanley and Grace (Mar tindell) Moore.
Anne was a graduate of Kenmore High School and Goldey College. In addition to farming with her husband, she worked for 32 years as a secretary in the Department of Agriculture at the University of Delaware. She enjoyed trips to the family cabin in Maine, camping, weekends at the river, bowling, bus trips, a good rocking chair, country music, dances at the Grange Halls, and mowing grass. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and being on the farm. She was well known for her pancakes, her sense of humor and love that she extended to everyone and made them feel like family.
Anne is survived by her son, Thomas K. Swan; brother, Charles S. Moore (Betty) ; sister, Emily Shoun; daughter-in-law, Michele Craig Swan; sister-inlaw Alice S. Johnson; five grandchildren, Bradley Swan (Lisa), Crystal Swan (Isuru), Megan Swan Delp (Howard), Gregory Swan, and Matthew Swan; Many nieces and nephews, and two great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many other extended family members who called her “Gram”.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Richard T. Swan; her son, Kenneth S. Swan; sisters, Ruth Diem, Miriam Taylor and Dorothy Reynolds; daughter- in-law, Donna G. Swan, and granddaughter, Jennifer Swan.
A Celebration of Anne’s life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior beginning at 9AM. Burial will follow at Kemblesville United Methodist Cemetery in Kemblesville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution checks can be made to “West Grove Fire Company” or the “Fair Hill Nature Center” and sent c/o the funeral home.
