IKEA to hold job fair at Perryville warehouse
— The IKEA distribution center warehouse in Perryville will hold a job fair to hire warehouse supervisors on Wednesday.
The fair is scheduled to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at 100 Ikea Way, said Cara Cordrey, spokesperson with the Perryville distribution warehouse.
“The warehouse supervisor role is critical to our business operations working smoothly,” said Eric Poli, Perryville
deputy warehouse manager. “At the job fair, we will be looking for individuals who are leaders, who like working with teams and know how to motivate their team to meet the organizational goals.”
The company is looking for people with one to three years of supervisor experience, preferably in a warehouse or logistics environment, and it is a plus to have knowledge of warehouse management systems, such as Astro and Gemini systems, Cordrey said. She said these software systems are used to help manage stock.
The job includes assigning work for warehouse coworkers, managing teams of employees and training coworkers, among other responsibilities, according to the IKEA website.
Cordrey said those interested will be given an informa- tional presentation, a question and answer portion and then a mini tour of a warehouse. The process will take about 45 minutes from start to finish, she said.
Those who are interested in the job will have the chance to sign for interviews, as well, Cordrey said.
Cordrey said people can also visit the IKEA website and apply online and do not have to wait for the job fair.
