June Marie Benjamin
June Marie Benjamin, 84, of North East, MD, passed away peacefully Monday, July 4, 2016 in the Elkton Transitional Care Center, Elkton, MD.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born on Feb. 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Oscar and Eva Janice (Brown) Hammer. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Edward Benjamin who passed on Sept. 24, 1990.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Benjamin worked at J.J. Newberry’s, Elkton, MD.
She was a member of the Covered Bridge and Shelemiah UM Church, Bay View, MD. She enjoyed collecting many different things.
Survivors include her son: Daniel E. Benjamin (Carol) of North East, MD; her granddaughter: Dawn Benjamin of El Dorado, AR; five sisters: Mildred “Millie” Holdway of North East, Peggy Sprecher of Mt. Dora, FL, Patricia Wilson of Havre de Grace, MD, Sandra Ritter of North East, and Carol Vaartjes of North East; one brother: Hayes Hammer of North East; three great grandchildren: Lani and Evan Vermilyea, Tom Tom Riccio; and two step grandchildren: Tommy Riccio (Madi) and Brandon Riccio (Courtney).
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12 at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main St., North East, MD, where the family will receive guests from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
Private interment will be in Bay View Cemetery, Bay View, MD.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Wynn.
Carolee is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Gary A. Brown, Sr.; 3 sons to whom she was a devoted mother, Gary A. Brown, Jr. (Krista), Todd S. Brown (Jeanne) and Deron G. Brown (Jennifer); and 4 grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Gran”, Gary A. Brown, III, Sydney L. Brown, Blake E. Brown and Bryce S. Brown, whom she loved more than words can describe. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Murlene Starcher of Poca, WV, Brenda Dillon of Craigsville, WV, and Karen Hardwick of Fairmont, WV.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers and nursing staff who took such excellent care of Carolee during her illness, especially Karla McClellan who was devoted to Carolee’s care until the end.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at Elkton United Methodist Church, 219 E. Main Street, Elkton, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton.
