June Marie Ben­jamin, 84, of North East, MD, passed away peace­fully Mon­day, July 4, 2016 in the Elk­ton Tran­si­tional Care Cen­ter, Elk­ton, MD.

A life­long res­i­dent of Ce­cil County, she was born on Feb. 5, 1932, the daugh­ter of the late Os­car and Eva Jan­ice (Brown) Ham­mer. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Ed­ward Ben­jamin who passed on Sept. 24, 1990.

Prior to her re­tire­ment, Mrs. Ben­jamin worked at J.J. New­berry’s, Elk­ton, MD.

She was a mem­ber of the Cov­ered Bridge and Shelemiah UM Church, Bay View, MD. She en­joyed col­lect­ing many dif­fer­ent things.

Sur­vivors in­clude her son: Daniel E. Ben­jamin (Carol) of North East, MD; her grand­daugh­ter: Dawn Ben­jamin of El Dorado, AR; five sis­ters: Mil­dred “Mil­lie” Hold­way of North East, Peggy Sprecher of Mt. Dora, FL, Pa­tri­cia Wil­son of Havre de Grace, MD, San­dra Rit­ter of North East, and Carol Vaart­jes of North East; one brother: Hayes Ham­mer of North East; three great grand­chil­dren: Lani and Evan Ver­mi­lyea, Tom Tom Ric­cio; and two step grand­chil­dren: Tommy Ric­cio (Madi) and Bran­don Ric­cio (Court­ney).

Me­mo­rial ser­vices will be held 2 p.m. on Tues­day, July 12 at Crouch Fu­neral Home, P.A., 127 South Main St., North East, MD, where the fam­ily will re­ceive guests from 1 p.m. un­til 2 p.m.

Pri­vate in­ter­ment will be in Bay View Ceme­tery, Bay View, MD.

For con­do­lences, please visit www.crouch­fu­neral home.com. puz­zles and vis­it­ing her fam­ily in West Vir­ginia, but her main fo­cus was lov­ing and car­ing for her hus­band, sons, and es­pe­cially, her grand­chil­dren.

Along with her par­ents, she was pre­ceded in death by a sis­ter, Betty Wynn.

Carolee is sur­vived by her lov­ing hus­band of 55 years, Gary A. Brown, Sr.; 3 sons to whom she was a de­voted mother, Gary A. Brown, Jr. (Krista), Todd S. Brown (Jeanne) and Deron G. Brown (Jen­nifer); and 4 grand­chil­dren, who af­fec­tion­ately called her “Gran”, Gary A. Brown, III, Syd­ney L. Brown, Blake E. Brown and Bryce S. Brown, whom she loved more than words can de­scribe. She is also sur­vived by 3 sis­ters, Mur­lene Starcher of Poca, WV, Brenda Dil­lon of Craigsville, WV, and Karen Hard­wick of Fair­mont, WV.

The fam­ily would like to ex­tend a spe­cial thanks to the care­givers and nurs­ing staff who took such ex­cel­lent care of Carolee dur­ing her ill­ness, es­pe­cially Karla McClel­lan who was de­voted to Carolee’s care un­til the end.

Friends may call on Tues­day, July 5, 2016, from 6 p.m. un­til 8 p.m., at Hicks Home for Funer­als, 103 W. Stock­ton Street, Elk­ton, MD 21921. Fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at Elk­ton United Methodist Church, 219 E. Main Street, Elk­ton, where friends may call be­gin­ning at 10 a.m. In­ter­ment will be in Gilpin Manor Me­mo­rial Park, Elk­ton.
