Rachel L. Engelberth (Bar­czewski), of Elk­ton, MD, went peace­fully home to the arms of her Sav­ior Je­sus Christ, on Sun­day, July 3, 2016, at the age of 16. Born in Elk­ton on May 8, 2000, she was the daugh­ter of Ann Mad­den Bar­czewski and hus­band, Thomas, Elk­ton, MD, and Michael Engelberth.

Rachel at­tended Shore­haven School in Elk­ton. She loved be­ing with her fam­ily and at­tend­ing Five Rivers Church. Rachel en­joyed bas­ket­ball and play­ing in the wa­ter, ex­cept when it came to show­er­ing. She had a gen­uine con­cern for all first re­spon­ders and when­ever she saw a sit­u­a­tion where they were per­form­ing their du­ties, she would make sure ev­ery­one in the car would say a prayer for them.

In ad­di­tion to her mother, step-fa­ther, and fa­ther, sur­vivors in­clude her sib­lings, Matthew Mur­ray, Mor­gan­ton, NC, Christa House (Ryan), Florence, AL, Amanda Engelberth, San An­to­nio, TX, and Amy Larsen (Roy), Ch­e­sa­peake, VA; ma­ter­nal grand­mother, Sylvia Mad­den; and pa­ter­nal grand­mother, Glo­ria Engelberth.

Fu­neral ser­vice will be­gin at 11 a.m., Satur­day, July 9, 2016, at Five Rivers Church, 290 White­hall Road, Elk­ton, MD. Visi­ta­tion will be held from 5-7 p.m., Fri­day, July 8, at the church. In­ter­ment will be in Friends Burial Grounds, Calvert, MD.

In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Pe­di­atric Epilepsy Cen­ter at Johns Hop­kins, in care of Hicks Home for Funer­als, 103 W. Stock­ton Street, Elk­ton, MD 21921.
