Farm Bureau pageant deadline July 12
— Young ladies interested in competing for the title of Miss or Jr. Miss Cecil County Farm Bureau have until July 12 to apply, according to organizers.
Ellen Larrimore is in charge of the pageant for 16-to-19-year-old girls. She took over the role from Helen Astle, who died in October. Girls 12-to-15 apply to Holly Isaacson.
“We ask for unmarried girls. Their family should be a member of the Farm Bureau,” Isaacson said
Tuesday, adding that bureau membership is easy to obtain.
The pageant will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at the Cecil County Fair.
Larrimore has three young ladies so far, while Isaacson has one definitely and others pending.
“This is a great opportunity for any girl interested in agriculture or who would like to be a spokesperson for agriculture,” Isaacson said.
Winners get cash prizes, but she said even the runners-up are called on to participate throughout the year at Farm Bureau functions.
Larrimore can be reached by calling 443-945-0390. To contact Isaacson, call 410- 708-4267.
According to Larrimore, the Farm Bureau Women are donating books to Cecil County elementary schools in Astle’s memory. The Cecil County Fair Board also plans a tribute to Astle and Peggy Sprout, who was also active in the Farm Bureau, the fair and Cecil County 4-H and died in March.
