John Lyn­don Jones, 52, of Frank­ford, DE, for­merly of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on M o n d a y, July 4, 2016 at the Delaware Hos­pice Cen­ter in Mil­ford, DE, fol­low­ing a short but coura­geous bat­tle with brain cancer.

John was born in Jen­nersville, PA, on June 20, 1964, son of Fred S. and Doris (Mont­gomery) Jones. He was a 1982 grad­u­ate of Rising Sun High School and re­ceived his Bach­e­lor’s De­gree in Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Arts from Sal­is­bury State Col­lege in 1986. John was cur­rently em­ployed as a su­per­vi­sor with Utiliquest.

John was a for­mer mem­ber of the Ce­cil County Hounds and Sports­man’s Club, for­mer Vice Pres­i­dent of the Ce­cil Soc­cer League and for­mer mem­ber of the Lions Club in Rising Sun, MD. He was in­stru­men­tal with the build­ing of the two Ce­cil Soc­cer League com­plexes through his vol­un­teer work where he was also a Lit­tle League coach, um­pire and Ce­cil Soc­cer coach. John was an avid Bal­ti­more sports fan cheer­ing for the Ravens, Ori­oles and even the Del­marva Shore­birds. He was a faith­ful mem­ber of the Janes United Methodist Church in Rising Sun, MD, and Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean View, DE.

He was an out­door en­thu­si­ast, en­joyed camp­ing, gam­ing with his son and col­lect­ing 80’s toys and games. He will be re­mem­bered as a lov­ing hus­band, fa­ther, son, brother and friend who left this world too soon.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Fred and Doris Jones of Rising Sun, MD, he is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of al­most 29 years, Su­san (Uh­lan) Jones; three chil­dren, El­iz­a­beth Anne Jones of Pitts­burgh, PA, Jen­nifer Lynn Jones of Grapevine, TX, and Gar­rett An­drew Jones of Frank­ford, DE. He is also sur­vived by a brother, David Michael Jones and his wife Lau­ren of Ox­nard, CA; two sis­ters, Ruth Ann Endo of An­napo­lis, MD, and Kathleen El­iz­a­beth Miller and her hus­band, Wayne, of Elkridge, MD, and fa­ther and mother-in-law, Dr. Eugene A. Uh­lan and his wife Mary Ann of Concord, NC.

A vis­i­ta­tion will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Fri­day, July 8 at the Ocean View Chapel of Mel­son Fu­neral Ser­vices, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, DE 19970. A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9 at Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Cen­tral Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970, where friends and fam­ily may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In­ter­ment will fol­low in the ad­join­ing ceme­tery.
