— It was a party atmosphere in the center of town Saturday afternoon as the Rising Sun Arts Alliance hosted its Second Saturday event, this time featuring a concert by One-Eyed Jacks.
Patty Robinson found she couldn’t sit still as the local band with a growing following performed classic rock from the stage across from Rising Sun Town Hall. The Joppa woman found a shady spot and danced.
“This is my music,” Robinson said, thoroughly enjoying One- Eyed Jacks.
Shelley Leishear, chairwoman of the alliance, said the idea behind Second Saturday was to be different from the First Friday schedule other towns and organizations host. Each month the alliance offers some type of event, from gallery shows to crafting opportunities.
Maria Bogia from North East sat on the decorative wall in front of Sun Pharmacy and listened to the band.
“I think they’re good,” Bogia said, adding she learned of Second Saturday on Facebook.
Along with the music,
Vanessa Sammons sits still while Katie Eisenhuth, a Rising Sun High School cheerleader, paints a princess crown on her arm. Piper Felty, 10, holds onto an oversized stick of sidewalk chalk while decorating the pavement in front of Rising Sun Town Hall.
Kilby Cream sold ice cream and Elk Mt. BBQ served hot foods and cold
When they went on a break, One-Eyed Jacks frontman Art Cibrian ordered the barbecued beef and mac- n- cheese platter.
“This is so good,” Cibrian said.
Rising Sun High School cheerleaders sold candy and face- painting to raise money for the squad. The young ladies need to raise $ 300 to purchase the custom hair bows they will wear in competition. An Aug. 13 car wash at Dollar General will also raise funds for the varsity and ju- nior varsity teams’ needs.
