Doris Ann Scarborough Lemon
Doris Ann Scarborough Lemon, age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016. She was born in the family home in Pleasant Hill, MD, the daughter of the late John and Elsie Brennen Scarborough.
After graduating from Elkton High School, Mrs. Lemon went to work for the DuPont Company in the Engineering Department at the Louviers Building, Newark, DE, where she met her future husband, James Lemon. Following their marriage in 1959, she remained at home following the birth of their son and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Wilmington. Mrs. Lemon was very involved in supporting the many activities of the Nur Temple, and a member of Women of the Moose, Lodge #969, Elkton, MD. She enjoyed traveling and going to the Hunter’s Den.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, James H. Lemon, Sr.; son, James H. Lemon, Jr. and wife, Karen, Newark, DE; grandchildren, Zachary Lemon (Aly), Newark, DE, and Jillian Lemon (Mikey), Bear, DE; 3 nieces; and 2 nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lemon was preceded in death by her sisters, Alberta Halsey, Rebecca Freeman, Pauline Spry and Pearl Zeveney.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD. Graveside service in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, will be private.
