Doris Ann Scar­bor­ough Lemon, age 82, of Wilm­ing­ton, DE, passed away on Mon­day, July 11, 2016. She was born in the fam­ily home in Pleas­ant Hill, MD, the daugh­ter of the late John and Elsie Bren­nen Scar­bor­ough.

After grad­u­at­ing from Elk­ton High School, Mrs. Lemon went to work for the DuPont Com­pany in the En­gi­neer­ing Depart­ment at the Lou­viers Build­ing, Newark, DE, where she met her fu­ture hus­band, James Lemon. Fol­low­ing their mar­riage in 1959, she re­mained at home fol­low­ing the birth of their son and was a de­voted wife and mother. She was a mem­ber of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Wilm­ing­ton. Mrs. Lemon was very in­volved in sup­port­ing the many ac­tiv­i­ties of the Nur Tem­ple, and a mem­ber of Women of the Moose, Lodge #969, Elk­ton, MD. She en­joyed trav­el­ing and go­ing to the Hunter’s Den.

Sur­vivors in­clude her hus­band of 57 years, James H. Lemon, Sr.; son, James H. Lemon, Jr. and wife, Karen, Newark, DE; grand­chil­dren, Zachary Lemon (Aly), Newark, DE, and Jil­lian Lemon (Mikey), Bear, DE; 3 nieces; and 2 neph­ews.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, Mrs. Lemon was pre­ceded in death by her sis­ters, Al­berta Halsey, Re­becca Freeman, Pauline Spry and Pearl Zeveney.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held from 6 p.m. un­til 8 p.m., Thurs­day, July 14, 2016, at Hicks Home for Fu­ner­als, 103 W. Stock­ton Street, Elk­ton, MD. Grave­side ser­vice in Sil­ver­brook Cemetery, Wilm­ing­ton, will be pri­vate.
