Sea­hawks’ Wil­liams named De­fen­sive Player of the Year

The best glove in the NJCAA Di­vi­sion II ranks be­longs to Ce­cil Col­lege’s Robert Wil­liams.

The sopho­more Sea­hawks in­fielder was named the 2016 Spald­ing NJCAA Di­vi­sion II De­fen­sive Player of the Year on June 14 by the NJCAA Di­vi­sion II Base­ball Com­mit­tee.

Wil­liams, who played both first base and third base for Ce­cil Col­lege this past sea­son, was also named to the NJCAA Di­vi­sion II Base­ball ABCA/Rawl­ings Gold Glove Team.

The sopho­more proved to be dom­i­nant wher­ever he played on the di­a­mond, fin­ish­ing the year with 90 to­tal putouts and 102 as­sists. He com­mit­ted just two er­rors in 37 games, end­ing the year with a .990 field­ing per­cent­age.
