Walking prayer vigil to be held in Rising Sun
— The public is invited to participate in a walking prayer vigil that will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday night on East Main Street.
“We’re going to pray over the whole town,” said Mike Brown, a Rising Sun-area man who is organizing the
Brown said the idea was not his own.
“God told me to do it,” he said.
It’s the right response to all the ugliness around us, he added.
“It’s so crazy out there any more,” Brown said Tuesday.
He’s not alone in that observation, and he won’t be alone as he begins the vigil at 6 p.m. in front of Big Lots in the Rising Sun Towne Center.
“There will be a group of like-minded individuals that believe in the power of prayer,” Brown said.
The vigil will make three to four stops, including at Rising Sun Town Hall and at the Rising Sun Police De- partment, he said.
“We want to pray with and for the officers,” he said, adding that it’s a show of support for law enforcement.
In the weeks ahead, Brown hopes to repeat the vigil in every town in Cecil County.
“And if necessary we’ll repeat the process,” he said.
