TENNIS 41st An­nual Ce­cil County Tennis Cham­pi­onships

The tour­na­ment will be held Sat­ur­day, Aug. 6 at the Ce­cil Col­lege courts on the North East cam­pus. Round-robin sin­gles. Women check in at 8:30 a.m., men check in at ap­prox­i­mately 10 a.m. En­try fee is $5.

FOOT­BALL Ce­cil Saints Inaugeral Jam­boree

The Ce­cil Saints foot­ball squad will host a pre­sea­son jam­boree on Sat­ur­day, Aug. 20. The event will held at Meadow Park, 300 Delaware Ave., Elk­ton, Md. 21921.

Ce­cil Saints Car Wash

The Ce­cil Saints foot­ball squad will host a car wash on July 30. The event will take place at the North East Post Of­fice in North East.

Su­per Sum­mer Camps

Sum­mer ses­sions start the week of June 13. Camps in­clude: Ad­ven­ture Camp, mul­ti­ple soc­cer camps for all ages, Base­ball Camp, Paint Camp, Tennis Camp, Track and Field Camp, Girls’ Lacrosse Camp, Dance Camp, Preschool Sports Camp, Safe­tyville

(Ris­ing Sun High School and Elk Neck El­e­men­tary), Olympic Camp and Minute to Win it Camp!

Speed and Agility Clinic

Triple Threat Train­ing will host a Speed and Agility Clinic for chil­dren en­ter­ing grades 2-12. Im­prove speed, quick­ness, agility, lat­eral mo­bil­ity and ex­plo­sive­ness. A pair of four-week ses­sions on Wed­nes­day nights June 29 – July 20 and July 27 – Au­gust 17. Cost is $50 per ses­sion. Adult Soc­cer League

Teams are guar­an­teed eight games in the first out­door league held on the Calvert Park turf. Games will be short-sided 6 on 6 on Sat­ur­day and Sun­day nights. Must be 18 or older to play. Cost is $400 per team plus $20 ref­eree fees each week.

Olympic Games Camp

Com­pete in Olympic style events to earn medals! Run­ning, jump­ing, throw­ing, catch­ing, archery and many other events will test your skills! There will also be some wa­ter fun! Snack and drink are pro­vided daily. The pro­gram runs July 11-15 from 9 a.m. — noon daily at the Ris­ing Sun Com­mu­nity Cen­ter. Cost is $75.

Ad­ven­ture Camp

Ad­ven­ture Camp will in­clude such daily ac­tiv­i­ties as Nerf wars, kick­ball/wif­fle ball, dodge­ball, ob­sta­cle cour­ses, wa­ter day and var­i­ous sports. Best suited for the more ac­tive and com­pet­i­tive type. Our Ad­ven­ture themed day camp will be sched­uled July 25-29, daily from 9 a.m.-noon. Reg­is­tra­tion is open to stu­dents 6-12 years and there is a fee of $80.00 for the week.

Minute to Win It Camp

Cam­pers will play pop­u­lar Minute to Win It games that chal­lenge them both physi-

cally and men­tally, in­clud­ing out­door wa­ter games. Snack and drink are pro­vided daily. Camp runs Au­gust 15-19 from 9 a.m. — noon at the Ris­ing Sun Com­mu­nity Cen­ter. Cost is $75.

CE­CIL COL­LEGE Spe­cial­ized Bas­ket­ball Shoot­ing Camp

Mon­day, July 25-Fri­day, July 29, 9 a.m.1 p.m. For boys and girls in grades 5-12. Bring a de­sire to learn bas­ket­ball, sneak­ers, ath­letic shorts and shirt and a lunch bag. Camp takes place at the Ce­cil Col­lege Phys­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion Build­ing on the North East cam­pus.

Ed Durham, Men’s Bas­ket­ball Coach, will teach and over­see all as­pects of the camp. Ce­cil has won the Mary­land JUCO reg­u­lar sea­son and state tour­na­ment cham­pi­onship a com­bined eight times since 2001. The 1999, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2016 teams won the Re­gion Cham­pi­onships and ad­vanced to the Na­tional Tour­na­ment. The 2006 team won the NJCAA Na­tional Cham­pi­onship. Coach Durham, along with the cur­rent team mem­bers, will be re­spon­si­ble for teach­ing and demon­strat­ing the fun­da­men­tals of bas­ket­ball. Coach Durham will stress con­fi­dence, team­work, ef­fort and sports­man­ship, which he feels are im­por­tant in­gre­di­ents in achiev­ing suc­cess on and off the court.

Camp ac­tiv­i­ties in­clude shoot­ing fun­da­men­tals such as men­tal game, 3-point shoot­ing, free-throw shoot­ing, shoot­ing off the catch, screen, drib­ble, fast break and more, in­clud­ing shoot­ing con­tests and 5-on 5 full-court games. Camp fea­tures in­clude in­door courts, T-shirts, play­ers grouped ac­cord­ing to age and abil­ity, ex­tra in­di­vid­ual in­struc­tion em­pha­siz­ing per­fect prac­tice habits.

Soft­ball Camp

Week 1: Mon­day, July 11-Fri­day, July 15, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Week 2: Mon­day, July 25-Fri­day, July 29, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. For ages 7-18. Camp takes place at the Ce­cil Col­lege soft­ball field on the North East cam­pus.

Soc­cer Camp

July 25-29, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For ris­ing sev­enth-12th grade girls. Camp takes place at the Ce­cil Col­lege Phys­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion Build­ing on the North East cam­pus.

Mark Farra, Ce­cil women’s soc­cer coach, will teach and over­see all as­pects of the camp.

Mark has 28 years of soc­cer ex­pe­ri­ence at the col­le­giate and high school lev­els. He will be joined by his coach­ing staff that has been to­gether for five years. Kyrie Bowe is a grad­u­ate of North East High School and Ce­cil Col­lege. She brings her ex­pe­ri­ence from her years at top level teams like Drexel Univer­sity and the Bal­ti­more Bays. Joshua Farra is a TFW cer­ti­fied trainer. Josh has learned and trained with some of the best train­ers in the world. He used his ex­pe­ri­ence from train­ing at the US Olympic Train­ing Cen­ter at Ce­cil Col­lege as well as this camp.

The Ce­cil Col­lege soc­cer staff will teach in­di­vid­ual and team soc­cer fun­da­men­tals such as: drib­bling, ball con­trol, pass­ing me­chan­ics, de­fen­sive­of­fen­sive po­si­tion­ing, shoot­ing skills, off the ball move­ment, nutri­tion and con­di­tion­ing $120 per player, with $20 dis­count for each ad­di­tional fam­ily mem­ber.
