Lightning strike destroys Ches. City horse barn

— A lightning strike during a Saturday afternoon storm started a fire that destroyed a horse barn, according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
The loss of the barn was estimated at $ 1 million dollars.
Kevin and Kristy Morgan, owners of the 60- by100 foot barn on Bunk Drive, told investigators
they were letting the last five horses out for the evening around 6 p.m. when they witnessed the strike. Kevin tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose, but told firefighters that the flames spread too quickly.
Volunteers from Chesapeake City Fire Company needed 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.
While the 20- stall barn and its contents are a total loss no horses or people were injured.
