Kevin and Kristy Morgan, owners of the 60- by100 foot barn on Bunk Drive, told investigators

CHESAPEAKE CITY

they were letting the last five horses out for the evening around 6 p.m. when they witnessed the strike. Kevin tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose, but told firefighters that the flames spread too quickly.

Volunteers from Chesapeake City Fire Company needed 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.

While the 20- stall barn and its contents are a total loss no horses or people were injured.
